The global mobile advertising market is creating a sonic boom with its presence in the global market and is expected to hit two noteworthy milestones in 2016, which are surpassing $100 billion USD in spending and accounting for more than 50% of all digital ad expenditure for the first time, respectively. The $101.37 billion USD which is to be spent on ads developed for mobile phones and tablets worldwide in 2016 is nearly about a 430% increment from the year 2013. If reports from an esteemed digital marketing e-forum, eMarketer are to be believed, then during the time period of 2016 and 2019, mobile ad expenditure will nearly double and hit $195.55 billion USD to account for 70.1% of digital ad spend and over one quarter of total media ad spending globally.
China – The Smartphone Giant
With technology becoming accessible in the palm of hands, there will be more than 2 billion smartphone users worldwide, with China as its biggest market which will have over one-quarter of the total number alone. In other emerging and developing markets, many consumers are accessing the internet through mobile phones first or through them only. This will especially help leading advertisers allocate their digital expenditure on mobile ads accordingly.
Tablet – The Rising Market
Another tool of smart accessibility, the tablet is growing at a slow yet steady pace worldwide and expected to surpass 1 billion in 2015. The abundance of these mobile devices around the world is driving the shift in advertising from the desktop to reach the consumers who are always on-the-go.
Crossing $40 Billion Mark
Mobile advertising market looks good in near future with leading global markets, particularly the US and China, stealing the cake on mobile ad expenditure growth segment. In 2016, US advertisers are planning to shell out approximately $40 billion USD to reach consumers on smart devices like tablets, phablets and mobile phones, doubling more than the total expense of 2014, while marketers in China will be investing about $22 billion USD – nearly triple the amount they spent in 2014. Both of these countries are expecting to see mobile devices become a majority for digital ad spend by the next year.
Top Growth Markets
The year 2018 will see significant gains in several of the top growth markets. Also during that year, Brazil will jump three spots from 2015 to become the 9th largest mobile ad market globally and Indonesia will make the largest gain, rising from 21st position to 12th. It is noteworthy though, that Indian market is also on an upsurge with over 500 million smartphone users by the end of 2017 out of which 284 million users will be 3G subscribers. A new app named Instappy can also contribute in facilitation of mobile apps with its instant and intuitive tools that create apps for you. While the top five countries will maintain their positions, there are other markets on the move.
